The Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching, and Service (CSJ) announces opportunities for social justice and deep community engagement in Spring 2026. Sign-up forms for these opportunities are available through CSJ’s website csj.georgetown.edu/Spring2026. Each sign-up form includes more detailed information about the program, and most offer Federal Work Study positions. After School Kids Program
Mentor and tutor with the After School Kids (ASK) Program, which serves at-promise young people in the DC metropolitan area through both academic and social-emotional support, with an emphasis on youth justice. ASK offers a supportive team environment and multiple scheduling options during the school day and in the evening (Monday through Saturday). Georgetown DC Reads Program
Georgetown DC Reads is a tutoring, mentoring, and advocacy program for youth in DCPS schools and community centers East of the River in DC. DC Reads tutors engage and cultivate students’ interest in reading and strengthen students’ literacy skills. DC Reads time commitment ranges from 6-8 hours per week. DC Schools Project (DCSP) is a tutoring, mentoring, and advocacy program that serves youth and adult immigrants of all ages who are designated as newcomer English Language Learners (ELLs). DC STEM
Georgetown DC STEM is a tutoring, mentoring, and advocacy program for K-5 elementary students in DCPS schools and community centers East of the River in DC. DC STEM tutors utilize a team-based model to increase students’ interest in and engagement with STEM topics through hands-on art-based experiments and activities. STEM experience is NOT required — and students with non-STEM backgrounds and a general love for learning are heavily encouraged to join in on this work. Immigrant Justice (IJI) Advocacy Team
Interested in opportunities to be in solidarity with low-income working class immigrant communities in DC? Consider joining the Immigrant Justice Advocacy Team! Immigrant Justice Advocacy Team members will be engaging in opportunities to gain professional and practical skills in activism, community outreach, case advocacy, and advocacy teamwork. The program emphasizes developing frameworks and practice rooted in social justice, critical consciousness-raising, and centering community as it connects at various intersections of immigration/migration. CSJ Operations
Support the mission-driven work of the Center for Social Justice (CSJ) by joining the Operations Team, providing essential behind-the-scenes infrastructure for EngageDC programs, community-based learning courses, student organizations, staff-directed initiatives, and racial justice work. Operations Team members help staff Poulton Hall, assist with administrative and financial workflows, support transportation logistics, and uphold the daily systems that keep CSJ programs running efficiently and safely. The Operations Team offers a collaborative work environment with scheduling options Monday through Friday. Federal Work-Study (FWS) positions only are available. Student Academic Assistants
CSJ Student Academic Assistants (SAAs) commit 4-8 hrs per week to complete organizational and logistical tasks to support faculty on their social justice focused courses and research projects. While SAAs meet and communicate regularly with their assigned faculty, they report to CSJ’s Director of Engaged Scholarship and Pedagogy, Dr. Fatemeh Hosseini. SAAs will be expected to attend 2-3 meetings during the spring semester as an entire cohort. Open to undergraduate students only and must have FWS and apply towards this position. UNXD 1130: CBL Social Action
UNXD 1130: CBL Social Action is a 1-credit, pass/fail, online, asynchronous course. Students integrate the course readings and learning material with their own community engagement experience through this 1-credit wrap-around course steeped in reflection. 30-40 hours of community-engaged/social justice work is required to be completed throughout the semester to pass the course. Social Innovation and Public Service (SIPS) Fund
The SIPS Fund is a $1.5 million student-run fund that makes strategic investments in Georgetown students and ideas that further our community’s Jesuit tradition of service to others. Student Leadership & Training Team
We are looking for invested students with a deep interest in leadership development, curriculum creation, and facilitation of discussions pertaining to social justice to join the Student Leadership & Training Team! This position is primarily responsible for co-facilitating training on the protection of vulnerable populations, as well as co-creating workshops relevant to students in leadership positions of student organizations focused on social justice. Students would work in partnership with the Assistant Director for Student Organizations and Leadership as well as the Justice Graduate Intern for Student Leadership and Training.
