Teach Dr. King’s Speech

Read “King in the Classroom,” an article on the Teach the Speech Initiative in the Spring 2022 Georgetown magazine.

Each year, Georgetown faculty, staff, and students across campuses and schools read and reflect on one of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s speeches/texts during the spring semester. The 14th annual Teach the Speech event on February 13, 2026 will focus on the Dr. King’s 1967 speech at the National Conference on New Politics in Chicago, often referred to as The Three Evils of Society.

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend and participate in as much of this event on Friday, February 13, 2026 in-person in Healy Family Student Center Social Room on the Hilltop campus as they can. The schedule allows for people to come and go as they need.
