Come get in the holiday spirit with family and friends with our festive timed run! Walk, jog, or run around Georgetown University’s charming and historic campus during our 5K run/2k walk ⏤ or just come for the hot cocoa!

Winter gear and holiday costumes are encouraged. Prizes will be given after the race for top finishers and best costume* (*humans and dogs).

In addition, Jack’s Winter Village will sustain you pre- and post-run with snacks, cocoa, winter craft stations, and photo opportunities a-plenty. Santa is also planning on making a stop in Jack’s Winter Village to hear your holiday wish list! Included in the ticket price:  

  • 1 fun run (timed 5k) OR 1 fun walk (2k) ticket
  • Finisher’s button.
  • Unlimited snacks and hot cocoa
  • Entry to Jack’s Winter Village

Since 1975, the Alternative Breaks Program has focused on providing immersion experiences for Georgetown students of all backgrounds to delve into understanding the specific culture, challenges, and opportunities facing host and partner communities. As students return to these communities year after year, they build and sustain long-term relationships with community partners, while benefiting both the trip participants and the communities visited. The race will begin and end on Copley Lawn on Georgetown University’s campus. Copley Lawn can be accessed through the front gates of campus at 3700 O street NW by entering and taking a left towards White Gravenor Hall(map of campus)

There is limited parking around Georgetown’s campus. So, we encourage runners/walkers to use our UBER/LYFT codes to receive discounted rides on the day of the race.

Bib pickup will begin at 9:45am to 10:45am. The race will begin at 11:00am. Jack’s Winter Village will open at 10:00am and will close at 1:30pm.

Volunteers will line the course route to cheer you on and point you in the right direction. The 5k runners and 2k walkers will start at the same time, though the courses are slightly different. The 2k walk is one lap and is stroller-friendly, with one moderate downhill and one mild uphill portion. A volunteer will lead the walker group through the course on pavement and brick surfaces. The 5k run is hilly and includes pavement, brick, and trail paths. 5k runners will complete 3 laps of the course. The course map is below:

Participants will fully circle the campus: diagonally across Healy and Copley lawns, behind White Gravenor, around the Leavey Center onto Tondorf Rd, between the McDonough School of Business and Cooper Field, in front of Yates Field House, behind the McDonough Arena to the bus turnaround, up Library walk, past HFSC to the front of campus and back to Healy lawn.

The first 75 registrants will receive a limited edition Winter RUNderland beanie, headband, or holiday socks. All participants registered by November 1 will receive a Winter RUNderland tote bag. All participants will receive a finisher’s button and access to Jack’s Winter Village. Holiday Hoya Soxa are also available for sale on the eventbrite ticket page.

There are restrooms available in most buildings on campus. The restrooms in closest proximity to the race start and finish are in White Gravenor Hall and the Intercultural Center (accessible restrooms).

There will be water set up at the start/finish line which will also be accessible during the run for laps 2 and 3.

Timing services will be provided by Nova Race Timing. Race results will be posted on csj.georgetown.edu/2019winterrunderland following the race. Please do not disturb the timekeeper during the race for your results. Please wear your bibs on the front of your shirt.
